Pearl Izumi made the Men's P.R.O Versa Bike Shorts for guys who like to attack the mountain trail with loose-fitting, durable, and comfortably padded shorts covering their arse. And other parts too, of course. For example, these Pearl Izumi short's 3D Versa chamois offers 10 millimeters of vibration-dampening foam, quick moisture transfer, and antibacterial protection. The P.R.O Versa's Durasensor shell resists tears, while a floating, stretch liner provides comfort without a butt-tight fit. Zippered mesh vents in front add breathability.

This is my first pair of MTB-specific shorts. I like the fit and the stretchy outer-short material ... definitely nicer than throwing board shorts over a liner. There's actually three zip vents and one zip pocket behind the right leg. The liner is well made and comfortable, but oddly, Pearl Izumi doesn't carry a comparable liner in their catalog if you want extras. I'll probably remove the plastic clips that fasten the liner to the shorts as they're unnecessary.
