The medium is a small. IN fox gear and other sombrio shorts I ride medium. These were not comfortable.

Originally ordered a md since a 34 is usually my max on waist. The mediums were tight, embarassingly tight. Seriously, since when is Canada in Europe? I returned for a sz L & am happy. Material construction is excellent - stretches, breaths, and appears to be pretty durable for the weight. Pockets have magnet closure. No pockets other than the 2 cargos. If you're carrying any extra junk in your trunk you might have to go 2 sizes up in order to avoid advertising your peaks and valleys - velcro adjustment on waist functions well.

After buying and returning 5 pairs of MTB shorts, I finaly found and fell in love with these. I'm usually a spandex kind of rider, but for more casual riding or after a race- these are perfect. They have a lean fit that won't snag on your saddle, but consider ordering a size up. As a size 4ish girl, these guys shorts in sz small fit great. Don't worry guys- these are not girly shorts. I just like them because it is hard to find womens cycling (especially mountain) stuff that is up to snuff with the guys items and although I am a card carrying member of the I-wear-too-much-pink club, I like to leave the pink floral junk off the trails.
