The chamois does indeed feel smooth. I also own the Sugoi shorts - and unlike those, the Giordana shorts do not have seams on the chamois that rub in sensitive areas. My only complaint about the Giordana shorts is with the waistband; the elastic is very narrow and it seems to have twisted over time and use. Otherwise, these shorts are great!
