When you're hiking, space and weight concerns make carrying a pump sound like a joke, unless you're talking about the Exped Mini Pump.

Bottom Line: Bringing a pump isn't just for car-campers when it's the Exped Mini Pump.

I bought the Exped downmat sleeping pad and was disappointed with the pump/storage sack system. Like others, I found it very inefficient and ineffective. I tried the mini pump and the pillow pump, and both work well when pumped with the heel. Switch out the pump/storage sack for a normal stuff sack, and there's little net change in weight -- but much better functionality in my opinion.
