great pad
manifestst1521711:

this is definitely a tough skin pad. super tough and comfortable a little heavy and pricey but well worth it. i always say "you get what you pay for". and this one i have slept on every night for eight months and no leaks!

Most comfortable Therm-a-rest out there
stevemassaro2391292:

For my money the ToughSkin is the most comfortable pad available. I like my pad to have lots of "give." I.e., I like a pad that isn't inflated very much. With the ToughSkin, you can let a lot of air out and get a nice cushy pad. But, the ToughSkin is special because it has a layer of harder foam inside. This extra layer makes it so you really don't feel the ground no matter how little air you put in the Therm-a-rest, allowing you to dial in just the right amount of "give." I like this pad so much that many nights, I sleep on it on my wood floors with a sheet on top rather than on the bed. No kidding, its the most comfortable thing I've ever found to sleep on.

ToughSkin Sleeping Pad
KDH2000:

Good quality product. Light enough and small enough for my needs. I have another Alps product for the SO and mine appears to be better. First camping trip will be the test.

It's worth it!!
Marvin Binder:

I bought the short Therm-a-rest Toughskin. I have used it twice and have been completly satisfied. Not only is it comfortable to sleep on, but I can lean it up against a tree and use it as a seat cushon without worrying about puncture holes. With a few quick breaths, the pad is firm. I actually let out a little air to make it a little softer. I'm 6'2" and the short version is plenty long for my torso. When I turn on my side, my knees fit nicely on the pad. I was a little concerned about paying so much for a pad, but you get what you pay for. It's worth it.

Pricey, But Worth It!
MahoosucGuy:

I had sworn off Thermarest due to a previous bad experience with holes and/or leaks with one of the first pads out by them. However, I needed to replace my cheap foam pad and chose to risk it again. I wanted the additional comfort of air cushion. After researching the options out there, I settled on the new ToughSkin (L) and have been really pleased. And after using it all summer in the granite mountains of New England, I couldn't be happier with its durability. Just wished it didn't cost a small fortune.
