Mountain Hardwear Rock Sack Bivy description

The Mountain Hardwear Rock Sack Bivy is an ideal ultralight shelter for alpine and big-wall climbing.

Bottom Line: At only 1lb 2oz, the Mountain Hardwear Rock Sack Bivy weighs less than most jackets and lets you stay tied in at bivys.

Try it out in person first
comebackwa2209673:

It's too small. I'm too big. Fresh air is about 18 inches away from your mouth. The only gear purchase I regret. I went with DIY replacement and am now much happier as I sleep in bivvy sack in a snow trench beneath a pyramid tarp in winter and feel bombprooof.

all right as emergency shelter
Thorsten Henn - Iceland:

This Bivy is fine if you don't want to use it on day-to-day basis. The hood is kind of narrow to get in (guess it is really waterproof for that). It is difficult to enter with a bulky sleeping bag and once inside you don't have a lot of space to close the sleeping bag and adjust the cords. It might be alright during the summer with a smaller sleeping bag - I haven't tested that yet. How ever I am not impressed with it during winter trips.
