The Shield Quickdraw utilizes DMM's one-of-a-kind Wirelock design to allow super-easy clipping in the most desperate situations. The Wirelock gate has low mass to keep it from fluttering open in a fall, and the keylock notch makes clipping and unclipping far easier than with standard carabiners. Though the Shield Quickdraw is great for sport and trad climbing, the freeze-proof gates and water-repellant Dyneema sling also make it ideal for ice and alpine climbing. DMM made this quickdraw out of aluminum for a low weight of 2.7oz, so it won't weigh down your harness when you start up the ninth long pitch of the day.

I recently bought this quickdraw and began using it the next day. Its innovative gate structure provides the lightweight design of a wire gate but does not compromise with its closure: a non-snag system (like Petzl's carabiners). I bought the 18cm model which is surprisingly lightweight for its strength. Great quickdraw with a design that makes you go wow. I would strongly recommend buying one.

The quickdraws are hard to touch. They are super lightweight, and I really like the action. I have heard some comment that the action is a little stiff, but I think it's right on.The only con is the price. If money is no object, or if theyre having a killer sale, I say go for it.
