Grivel G14 AntiBotts

Grivel G14 AntiBotts description

Antibotts are flexible, latex sheets that prevent snow build-up beneath the crampon. The antibott is essential for safety in wet snow conditions. Latex is the only material that remains elastic and resists cracking in temperatures down to -40C. These antibotts are intended for the Grivel G14 crampons (our item no.: GRV0006).

This is my second pair, I barely got a year out of my first pair and I don't climb very much. I think mine deteriorated so quickly because I was using them with size 48 boots and stretching out the material. Once I got a little hole, it didn't take long to open up. If you noticed Grivel has new 2 piece anti-botts for the G10 and G12 (and soon to be G14). Wait if you can, or what I did was cut the center section out with a pair of scissors. That seemed to help.

These crampons were great. The only thing I didn't like was how flexible the little transition piece (metal) from the front bail, which allows you to lace the crampons.. other than that, these things have excellent traction in all kinds of snow conditions.
