Garmin 60 CSX GPS Unit description

The Garmin 60 CSx GPS Unit is an upgrade to Garmin's popular 60 Cx GPSin addition to all of the Cx's offerings, the CSx has a barometric altimeter and electronic compass to supplement its mapping functions. The altimeter uses both barometric pressure and satellite data to give you extremely accurate elevation data, while the electronic compass allows you to get an accurate heading even while standing still. Set the altimeter to one elevation, and you can use the barometer to watch for incoming weather. The CSx also features built-in memory for 50 routes and 1,000 waypoints, and comes with a 64-megabyte microSD card. You can buy microSD cards pre-loaded with topos and marine cartography that you can install in your GPS, or the included USB cable lets you hook up to your computer to download or upload maps, routes, and other data from MapSource.

Bottom Line: If you spend a lot of time off the beaten path, you need the Garmin 60 CSx GPS.

For Marvelous Adventures
Nicole Hillstrom:

I carry this with me always. It's small enough that it fits in the pack I take with me everywhere I go. My favorite anecdote is from when I showed my GPS to my dad. He was pretty proud of his, but this one, mine, is better. Since his is a Garmin, too, he was able to show me a few features that I hadn't tried out yet. I was proud when dad asked me to pull it out to show off to one of his friends, who was also impressed. I have a Mac, so it was a little difficult to figure out which software I needed, and where to get it, but once you get it figured out, it's very simple to use. I haven't been able to get the Mac-compatible maps yet, though. Fortunately, Garmin makes a chip that eliminates the hassle.

Worth Every Penny
traquino98:

Sure this unit is a little pricey, but you can't beat it for accuracy. The stronger antenna helps keep accurate information even in deep canyons and under a lot of tree cover. The multiple buttons make it easy to navigate to different areas of the unit. I couldn't be happier.
