Highgear Aerial Altimeter Watch description The Highgear Aerial Altimeter Watch shows your elevation, speed, the temperature, and just about everything else you want to know when you're climbing, hiking, or skiing. | Bottom Line: A hyper-accurate altimeter for the altitude junkie. |
Nice Watch
Lewis At Lake Tahoe:
I have had my Aerial watch for a few weeks now. My previous watch was a Suunto Vector; so, I will compare the watches.Aerial Positives:The watch is smaller than then Vector. The numbers are larger. I like how the altimiter can be displayed with the time on the main screen. The alarm is a little louder than the Vector. The altimiter seems just as acurate. I like the two timezones.Aerial Negatives:It doesn't have a count down timer which I like for exercising. The temperature is incorrect when the watch is on my wrist. The mode has too may screens; it takes a while to get back to the time screen from the altimiter screen (I liked the way the Vector had 4 mode and then sub screen under each mode because it reduced button pressing). The band is very stiff, making it difficult to put on. There is no digital compass (Vector has one), but this is clearly stated.
poor design
Anonymous:
I have owned 2 of the these watches and I must say I'm not pleased with it. Both watches had the band rip out due to a poor design (the pin holes are set in rubber and they rip out). If you are even remotely rough on your gear I would recommend looking elsewhere for a watch.
Doesn't Stand up
ttm2541447:
I'm hardly one who is hard on my gear and this watch didn't last a year without breaking. The band broke and I Gorilla glued it, it broke again and I glued it again. Now the sides around the buttons are peeling off. Also requires a lot of calibration and buttons are inadvertently pressed too easily.
Altimeter? Yes! Compass? No!
fadingdust2154903:
I like it, but I forgot to compare to other watches and turns out, this one does NOT have a digital compass. I just flew in a commercial airline, and it is decently accurate (with a 20x multiplier) despite the cabin being pressurized! It was also fully accurate on a trip to the Sears tower ;) One down-side is the band is pretty inflexible/pre-molded.. can't bend it too much/won't lay flat like a leather band would.
My favourite gear
Andras Bucsinszky:
- specs -Thermometer: +14 to +122F. I used it at +5F, it still worked fine. To get an accurate temperature reading I usually fix it to my pack, or the front of my jacket.Baro: 300 - 1100 mBar (8.86 - 32.48 inHg). I calibrate it once a month using info from weather.govAltimeter: -2300 to +30,045 feet (-700 to 9150 meters). Water resistance 5ATMAwesome.
