I am a professional guide for 10 years running. I got a job at a Nike ACG store on the East Coast in 2003, and bought this watch for climbing, etc. I don't wear it on my wrist, but have strapped (binered) it to my pack on climbs as it smacks repeatedly against rocks, and on the outside of my watershed dry bag for 5-6 day rafting trips all over the place, it has never stopped working, the battery gives me plenty of warning and goes out every year and a half. The altimiter works....okay. The compass I think has been thrown off but you guys gotta understand, this thing has been totally f-ing thrashed and I'm serious. This thing is made my NIKE!!? I doubt it. Now after 5 years I got a new battery and the guy said maybe it's getting an electrical problem. One of the most dependable pieces of gear, and I wouldn't have expected it. I think when I do get a new alti-compass watch I'll have a ceremony for this little piece of gear. It's been everywhere with me, dragging in the dirt, and it is still working. The display doesn't scratch easily, but I've got some gashes in the steel, again, several 20+ foot drops onto rock, being submerged for days on end, and all else, covered in peanut butter for a week, etc. etc. I'll shut up. I love this dang thing.

While I certainly expected that this watch would be very good, it managed to surpass my expectations. Fantastic, easy to use functions and a strong, durable, comfortable strap. This watch would have been a great buy at +$300!!!! If you are considering buying it, Just Do It!

My friend purchased the Lance 4 watch for me before I competed in the Ironman Hawaii World Championships. It was the best gift I could have received! I can tell this watch was designed for athletes by an athlete. All of the functions I could have wanted were included. And, I wear the watch even when I'm not exercising because I love the look. It's classy enough to wear to work and durable enough for any athletic endeavor. I'm a big fan!!
