Bad binding on Meta
Paul from Silverton:

This binding has problems- plastic heal plate does not stay in hole on lower portion of metal binding-I have been out twice with the Meta's and found that I must secure ankle strap first-otherwise binding comes loose-the Meta turns nicely-too bad binding wasn't better designed-I'm worried about how this binding will stand up to more use

Ski Shoes Anyone?
Aaron Bishop:

I heard about these from a friend in Japan. They call them "ski shoes" there because they are such a perfect combination of skis and snow shoes. All-terrain skis might be another good term. These are great for climbing anything up to about a 15% grade. You will have to make more switchbacks than the snow shoe folks, but you will pass them on the downhill. Because the skins don't come off on the downhill, these are probably a little slower than telemark or other backcountry skis, but they are much more maneuverable and carefree. Lots of fun!

fun fun fun
Dana B.:

I got them in the mail, strapped them on over my lunch hour and ran up Daly Canyon. Just as promised, they go right up the hill. I tried a variety of terrains and snow level depths and I just love them! Probably not for a hardcore backcountry skier or someone with something to prove. Easy on, easy off, heavy duty snowboard-like bindings. Very portable, light yet obviously tough. Anybody can use these. They move up the hill almost like snowshoes and have great control with just enough speed on the downhill side. If you just want to get out and enjoy the snow and sun, these are for you. Next stop, off the trail in the Uinta's.
