CATARACT CANYON BLAST - 1 Day

River Rafting
INFO

Got 1 Day, looking for the ULTIMATE River Adventure possible? Get Cataract Canyon!
This one day whitewater rafting vacation is 100 miles on the famed Colorado River from Moab to Lake Powell. The one-day Cataract Canyon raft, our Super J, is a special raft designed and built by Tagalong in 1999. New technology allows this powerful raft to cover flat water with the speed of a motorboat and yet run the rapids with the surity and excitement of a smaller raft. With this versatility, amazing sites, previously only seen on longer river rafting trips, are available for you to explore.

Cataract Canyon offers 28 Grand Canyon style rapids. These are some of the most well known and respected whitewater rapids in the world; "Ben Hurt", Powell's Pocket Watch", "Capsize", and the three spectacular rapids in the "Big Drop" series, the steepest section on the mighty Colorado river.

ITINERARY: Day 1 – Lunch
The Colorado River Cataract Canyon rafting trip begins ain Moab Utah at 7:00 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. departure. A short drive, a brief overview of matters, we launch! You will start the day on flat water enjoying the red rock cliffs and trying to spot eagles, hawks, bighorn sheep and mule deer. We point out locations of interest like petrified wood, ancient ruins, geologic wonders and historical sites. At noon, a stop for lunch at a delightful spot along the Colorado allows the guides show off their culinary skills.

The rapids begin beyond the Confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers. A whitewater orientation is presented just before the rapids to let you know what to expect about rafting in Cataract Canyon. And then you're off pounding through the mountains and valleys of waves through red rock splendor occasionally dotted with wildlife.

After the last of the whitewater rapids, we quickly cross Lake Powell to Hite Marina. You must choose in advance a return option from Lake Powell to Moab or onwards to your next destination. Our favorite choice of returning to Moab is to board the Scenic Flight. The flight takes you up the Colorado River above the rapids just rafted in Cataract Canyon and over Canyonlands National Park before landing at the Canyonlands Airfield outside of Moab. Moab staff meet our rafting trips at the airfield, then transport visitors to town. Approximate time of arrival back to Moab with this option is 6:00 p.m. Add 2 hours to trip time if a paddle boat or inflatible kayak is requested.

Main Features: Intense Class III-IV river rafting, Native American ruins, geology, hiking, Canyonlands National Park, Colorado River, white water, unstoppable scenery! Ends on Lake Powell at Hite Marina.

SUITABLE FOR: People looking for BIG thrills without fear, families with children 12+ (8+ after mid-July), weekend warriors who still want big adventure!
