westwater canyonIf you only have one day to spend on an outdoor adventure, make it a BIG day! We know how to make one day in the wilderness count. The maps are in our hands, the river current runs beneath our boats, and we want to take you with us! We’ll have you out of civilization and into some of the most scenic and surprising landscapes in all of America. You’ll see Canyonlands National Park as those stuck in their cars will never see it! These mini-expeditions are the most popular one-day and half-day escapes in the American West. Whether you have an appetite for whitewater rafting or 4X4 exploration, we have a trip for you. Traveling with the kids? Bring ‘em along on any one of these exciting day trips!

WEST WATER CANYON EXPRESS rafting INFO
Is your time squeezed so tight you can only afford one day on the river? Don’t worry! In this magical rip in the earth known as Westwater Canyon, you encounter 12 of the most agitated, brawling rapids to be found in the West! You get a maximum whitewater experience in minimum time

An expedition into Westwater Canyon delivers maximum whitewater in minimum time! This is an unforgettable escape into a unique backcountry canyon. Here the oldest layer of rock, the Pre-Cambrian Vishnu Schist erupts out of the belly of the earth. The schist rock glistens black in the sun before giving way to stunning red rock cliffs that tower above it. And oh, the whitewater you’ll see! As canyon walls squeeze the river into a tighter and tighter space, the river moves faster or more furiously, pouring over rocks and holes. In a small, lightweight row-raft you are as close to the action as you can get! This is a classic whitewater ride and the best you can find in one day anywhere in the West!

You’ll board vehicles at our partners office for the ride to the river "put in." After our guides give you a thorough safety orientation and outfit you with a life vest, you’re off on your adventure. This morning you have opportunity to get in tune with the river and soak up the gorgeous wilderness known as Westwater Canyon. See how many blue herons or eagles you can spot. At lunch time, we’ll stop at Miner’s Cabin, a historic gold mining camp. With the roar in your belly satisfied, we’ll plunge into the fast-moving waters that await us! The first teaser is Little Dolores Rapid. You’ll hear more history and folklore as the raft speeds toward Marble Canyon Rapid and then, hold on! The next succession of rapids flaunt names like Big Hummer, Funnel Falls, Surprise, Skull and Sock It To Me and you’ll feel the punch of every one of them! Your guides will do their best to avoid the mysterious Magnetic Wall and Room of Doom! You’ll exit the whitewater adventure on rolling and rumbling Bowling Alley rapid. The trip ends in the rhythm of the river with plenty of time to talk to each other or pick the brain of your seasoned, naturalist guide. At day’s end, you will have enjoyed more rapids, more excitement and more of a backcountry wilderness experience than you can find anywhere in the American West! You’ll depart from Cisco where our shuttles wait to escort you back to Moab. You’ve had a great day on the legendary Colorado River!
